Refuge
A weaver bird's nest is built using bits and scraps from arguably the biggest junkyard in the world– nature. Grass, leaves, twigs, and roots are carefully chosen and intricately woven into a home. The task provides an existential purpose– not just to the weaver-bird but also to the bits and scraps of nature– remnants of life given chance anew.
A mural painting I did for the course ‘Context Site and Situation’—a collaboration between the MA programme at Visual Cultures, Curating and Contemporary Art, (ViCCA), Aalto Univeristy and the Time and Space Arts, Academy of Fine Arts, University of the Arts (UNIARTS) Helsinki.
